1. Free of charge – without warranty, at your own risk
TangoDown Security is a private, free hobby project by Lars Stahl. Use of the software and of all extensions (plugins, connectors, interfaces) is at your own risk. The software is provided as is – without any warranty of correctness, completeness, timeliness, availability, security, freedom from errors or fitness for a particular purpose. It is neither independently audited nor certified nor forensically validated. There is no entitlement to support, bug fixes, updates, further development or to software, website, marketplace or update service continuing to be offered. Voluntary donations do not change this. The terms of use shown by TangoDown on first start are also binding.

2. Results are leads, not evidence
Hits, links, ratings, analyses, reports and AI answers can be wrong, outdated or incomplete. They replace neither your own checks nor professional or legal advice. No assurance is given that results can be used in court, with authorities or towards third parties. You make decisions based on them alone and on your own responsibility.

3. Lawful use – your responsibility
You alone are responsible for using the software lawfully – in particular in compliance with data protection law (GDPR, BDSG), personality, copyright and trademark rights, the terms of platforms and services, and criminal law. Unauthorised access to third-party systems or data, stalking and any other unlawful use are prohibited. You are yourself responsible for damage and third-party claims arising from your use.

4. Plugins, third-party services and integrations
Plugins in the marketplace come from their authors, who alone are responsible for them. I do not review them – not even when they are included in the marketplace; inclusion is not a recommendation, and there is no entitlement to it. The signature only confirms origin from the marketplace and that the plugin is unchanged. JavaScript and Python plugins run isolated and need your approval; plugins of the "local web service" kind are separate programs outside the sandbox – check code and permissions before approving. Plugins for TangoDown may only be passed on free of charge. I reserve the right to remove plugins from the marketplace at any time and to block them in the application if I consider it necessary. No responsibility is accepted for third-party plugins, external services, interfaces, data sources and AI providers, their content, availability, costs and changes, or for the consequences of their use.

5. Updates and backups
Updates can change or remove functions, interfaces and data formats. You are responsible for backing up your data. A forgotten master password can only be replaced with a valid recovery key created beforehand; without it – and if the passphrase of a package or backup is lost – no recovery is possible.

6. Limitation of liability
Software and website are provided free of charge. Liability is excluded to the extent permitted by law. Excluded in particular is liability for indirect damage, consequential damage, lost profit, loss of data, interruptions, costs of third-party services, damage caused by plugins, third-party services and integrations, and for consequences of updates. Liability for intent and gross negligence, for fraudulently concealed defects, for injury to life, body or health and under the Product Liability Act remains unaffected.

7. Content of this website
The content is created with care; no warranty is given for correctness, completeness and timeliness. I am responsible for my own content under general law. For third-party information that I transmit or store (e.g. plugins by other authors in the marketplace), the rules of Regulation (EU) 2022/2065 (Digital Services Act, Art. 4 to 8) apply in conjunction with Section 7 DDG; accordingly there is no general obligation to monitor such information (Art. 8 DSA). Content will be removed promptly once legal violations become known.

8. Links to third-party sites
The operators of linked sites are solely responsible for their content. No legal violations were apparent at the time of linking; permanent monitoring is not reasonable without concrete indications. Such links will be removed promptly once legal violations become known.

9. Copyright and licence
Software, texts, images and design are protected by copyright (© Lars Stahl). The software may be used free of charge; decompiling, modifying, reselling and distributing it under your own name are not permitted unless expressly allowed by law.

10. Final provisions
German law applies, excluding the UN Convention on Contracts for the International Sale of Goods; mandatory consumer protection provisions of the country of your habitual residence remain unaffected. If any provision is invalid, the remaining provisions remain valid.
